Mia J. Guillory, O.D.

Dr. Mia Guillory, OD was born and raised in South Louisiana.  She graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and went on to attend Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007, practicing in Southern Illinois before moving to East Tennessee.

Dr. Guillory has been glad to call East Tennessee home since 2018 when she relocated with her husband, Jared, who is a University of Tennessee professor.

Dr. Guillory practices comprehensive optometry including routine eye exams and contact lens fittings, eye disease management (glaucoma, diabetic eye care, macular degeneration), pediatrics, and co-management of refractive and cataract surgery.

She is particularly interested in dry eye disease, which affects millions of people and is worsened by near tasks such as computer and cell phone use.  Myopia management (slowing the rate of nearsightedness) in children is also a particular interest of hers.  Since children spend hours doing homework and are increasingly on digital devices, nearsightedness (myopia) is on the rise which can lead to retinal complications in life.  Being able to slow the progression can impact a person’s life long term.

Dr. Guillory enjoys getting to know her patients and believes that listening to patients’ concerns is essential to good patient care.

In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, baking, painting, and exploring East Tennessee.

She practices in our Midtown/Roane County office.
